Painted Paper Mandalas

In September 2021 I worked again with the super Create Community in Letchworth Garden City to deliver another workshops supporting adults who have been long term unemployed. This time I introduced participants to making mindful mandala collages. These collages are inspired by the Buddhist and Eastern tradition of making contemplative mandalas to aid prayer and introspection and sense of peace. They are made using painted paper, which I made before the workshop. The collages are started in the centre and then built outwards, cutting away areas and sticking more colours from behind to build up a varied and beautifully individual collage. It takes time and patience to make these and in a sort of counter intuitive way of working which is great to make your brain work and have fun too!

Have a look at the pieces below that were made - they are so beautiful!
